Yes! Scholarships have been awarded for 2021!
The Whitireia Foundation launched its scholarships for 2021 in October 2020. Our March Scholarships Awards Ceremony was attended by proud whānau, our amazing students and their generous Sponsors. Congratulations to all!
If you didn’t apply this year, take some time to check the application criteria below, and if it sounds like you, then apply for 2022! We’ll open applications around October. Feel free to send any queries our way, just send a message through this website, or contact Whitireia’s Information & Enrolment Centre – details below.
Our scholarships provide financial assistance for tuition fees, unless otherwise specified. Some scholarships cover tools and other relevant materials such as laptops and software.
In addition to a financial (or equivalent) award, some students will have paid work experience opportunities. Apprenticeships may follow for promising students completing their work experience.
Please check out the documents below if you are considering making an application for our 2022 scholarships.

The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the support of all our sponsors, many who have supported Whitireia and the Foundation for a number of years. These committed sponsors include Ngāti Toa, law firm Ford Sumner, Compass Health, Porirua City Council, Elite Services, Alpha NZ Ltd, Graduate Women (Wellington) Charitable Trust and the Campbell and Kirk-Burnnand families. Into their seventh year as sponsors for 2021 are EftPos Vending Ltd, Gee & Hickton Funeral Home, and Red Wolf Security. Offering scholarships for the sixth time are Foster + Melville Architects. Welcome to new sponsors Atareira, Maude & Miller and OCS, thank you for coming on board with us! We are also hugely grateful to the Nikau Foundation for supporting TEN students in 2021, carrying on the work started by the Porirua Trust.
We awarded 36 scholarships for 2021! With another three (Māori Health) scholarships to award mid-year from NZ Health Group. Big thanks to our wonderful sponsors who make it all possible.
The selection committee considers three main criteria when considering applicants and selecting recipients. These are:
