2014 gets off to a great start!

Whitireia Orientation 2014
A great start to 2014 – huge turnout for the Powhiri at our Porirua campus

A fantastic start to the week and year, with simultaneous powhiri on four Wellington campuses, including the largest turnout ever seen at Porirua. Whitireia has been a-buzz with orientation activities, with music filling the Atrium most lunchtimes.

Adding to the buzz, our Wellington-based New Zealand Film and Television School has turned out yet another winner, with short film Oscar being selected for screening at the 2014 Speechless Film Festival in Mankato, Minnesota, USA.

Oscar-PosterV4Small2Directed by first-time short film maker, Isauro Torres, Oscar screens at the Speechless Film Festival 20-22 March 2014. Isauro graduated at the end of 2013, and is part of Crew 26. Sima Urale is Head Tutor at the New Zealand Film and Television School: “It’s great to be getting recognition internationally,” says Sima. “It shows and endorses the quality of the work produced by our graduate filmmakers.” Great work Sima, Isauro and crew.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to getting our students off to a great start for 2014. Check out orientation photos on Facebook Whitireia Orientation Week 2014.
