Scholarships for 2015

The Whitireia Foundation is pleased to offer a number of scholarships to students planning to study at Whitireia NZ campuses in 2015.

The Foundation has been successful in securing a range of sponsors for 2015. New scholarships are offered through ISS NZ, Maycroft Construction, Red Wolf Security and Wheeler’s Guardian Funeral Home.

The scholarships provide financial assistance for tuition fees, unless otherwise specified. New for 2015, in addition to a financial (or equivalent) award, are paid work experience opportunities with Maycroft Construction. Apprenticeships may follow for promising students completing their work experience with Maycroft.

With around $100,000 awarded in scholarships each year, the Foundation gratefully acknowledges the support of all our sponsors, many who have supported Whitireia and the Foundation for a number of years.  These committed sponsors include Fuji Xerox NZAltrusa and Zonta International of Mana, law firm Ford Sumner, Compass Health, Porirua City CouncilGraduate Women Wellington, the Wellington Ostomy Association and the Campbell, Sheppard, Kirk-Burnnand and Simpson families.

The selection committee considers three main criteria when considering applicants and selecting recipients.  These are: demonstration of a genuine desire and ability to succeed in the chosen area of study, financial circumstances and personal achievement.  You can see a list of our scholarship recipients for 2015, in the Autumn Newsletter.

Anything to do with people and the environment and I'm interested! I have been writing and commenting about education, the environment and other community-related matters since 2006. I'm a compulsive researcher. In 2009, I finished a thesis on Kapiti's water issues and am still researching outcomes there. This website and the work I do as a trustee for the Whitireia Foundation are part of my aspiration to contribute to 'shaping more sustainable communities'...also the title of my thesis. Look it up - it's free at www.j.co.nz.
